Katra Film Series is an internationally recognized film festival and screenwriting competition dedicated to supporting the next generation of filmmakers (usually held at the world famous Alamo Drafthouse Theater).

Katra Film Series is New York Strong. After weathering Hurricane Sandy in our debut year, we went on to enjoy nine years of success thanks to a vibrant community of local and international indie filmmakers. Though COVID-19 has presented challenges to our typical season, we are excited to explore new ways of connecting creators and audiences virtually during this time.

We’re proud to have received some love from Tribeca Films for “[Katra’s] honorable mission to spotlight new and emerging cinematic talents" and from the New York Times which praised KFS as “an amazing and excellent festival that has made it in New York.”
